About Me

Hi. I’m Chelsea, and this is my blog.

I’m a storyteller, traveller, and bookworm. I lived a nomadic life during my twenties — bouncing around from apartment to apartment, going on backpacking trips, and living in Melbourne, Australia for a couple of years — but now, in my early thirties, I’m working on putting down roots in lovely Vancouver, Canada. I’m learning to love this more settled existence, but I am afflicted with chronic wanderlust. Fortunately, being a freelance writer and strategist gives me plenty of opportunity to travel for business and for pleasure.

I tend to freeze up when I’m asked to describe myself – my hobbies and interests and whatnot. I know I’m interested in things, but do coffee and wine and books and music constitute proper interests? Cheese. I also really like cheese.

A few random facts about me: I was born a ginger. I cannot handle being in the room when people rub flour on the kitchen counter; it makes me feel ill. When I was a teenager, I used to write romance ‘novels’ and distribute them amongst my friends. I once got fired from being a bridesmaid. I have been to something like 26 countries (more if you count places like Monaco and the Vatican), and plan to make it 36 by the time I turn 36. When I was younger, I thought I made up the word ‘vagabond’.

About My Blog

Chelsea Tells Stories is no one thing. I started out as a travel blogger more than 10 years ago, but these days I write about places, books, food, music, and whatever else is delighting me at the moment.

One thing’s for sure: this is a blog about collecting and coveting experiences, not things.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

    Greetings Chelsea,
I’m glad that you are enjoying living in Melbourne, and missing home is quite a normal thing. Currently I’m also living in Australia, however I must say that I’d love to visit and photograph Canada as the scenery looks absolutely spectacular. I notice that you visited Wilson’s Promontory, which I can only describe as “Heaven on Earth”. Take great care and enjoy living in Melbourne, which along with Victoria is a great place to explore.
    God bless

Thanks for the comment! Yes, Wilson’s Prom is lovely and Melbourne is the best, but sadly I’m leaving Australia in a few weeks! It’s heartbreaking, but the right decision overall, I think. Plus my visa is expiring very soon, so that’s forcing my hand somewhat. Where are you in Australia? And yes, you should absolutely get to Canada for some photo-taking. It really is a pretty stunning place!

I sincerely wish you all the best on your trip back to Canada and God willing one day ill be able to explore its beautiful nature which looks absolutely gorgeous. Currently I’m living in Melbourne so we’re neighbours for a little while longer. Take great care, wishing you all the best in life and God bless.

I came across your blog from the blogroll of the recent Alt class for “Expanding your audience”. Really love what you are doing here! I’m a bit of a nomad myself, so your stories are ones I can definitely relate to. Consider your audience expanded by at least one! 🙂

Thanks so much, Amy! You’re so sweet. I just took a look at your blog and it looks like we are kindred spirits! I’ll be following along on your adventures now too.

Stumbled across your blog via the Sydney Morning Herald. (I could have said The Age to align your Melbourne leanings but hey, no point in fibbing). Anyway, everything you’ve written here (that I’ve read) somehow makes Chelsea instantly likeable. So, keep it up!
